If you’re looking for a unique spin on the standard formula, Pontoon is the video blackjack game for you! While the central goal of reaching 21 and not exceeding it remains untouched, the extra rules surrounding that central premise shake up your experience.
Depending on which version you play, you may partake in Pontoon with two or eight decks. The lucky soul that winds up with a blackjack (called pontoon in this game) receives a 2 to 1 payout. This double money payout also goes to the players that hold 5 cards without busting. But ties aren’t a thing in this game, so if both you and the dealer wind up with equally powerful hands, the dealer wins by default.
In this particular game, the dealer must draw until reaching 17. However, it only need be a hard 17 for the dealer to stand. Meanwhile, players must hit until they’ve gotten to at least 15. Only on 15 or more will you have the privilege to stand.
Uniquely enough, you may decide to double at any moment during the hand. This is quite uncommon in blackjack. But once you raise the bet, you’re given an additional card. From there, the decision to hit or stand is yours. And as far as splitting goes, you may split all pairs, but that doesn’t come for free: you must double your wager. Afterwards, you’re free to double.
RTG’s Pontoon is a terrific blackjack variant to play online and have a ball while doing it. So get to playing and good luck!
