As you could assume by reading the name, it is believed that European Blackjack is the original game that led to the creation of Blackjack as we know it today. You could even say that the global version everyone plays nowadays is actually the American variation.
Seemingly, all the rules are identical. Both the player and the dealer are competing to get 21 or anything close to it based on two cards. The face ones bring 10 points, and an Ace card is worth 1 or 11 points. Cards from 2 to 9 are worth their face value. If you get anything over 21, you lose the money immediately.
The difference in European Blackjack hides in the way you bet. While the player gets two cards immediately, the dealer gets only one. Only after the player decides whether they want another card or stand does the dealer get another card. Additionally, the initial dealer’s card is faced up.
Although this might seem easier for the player, it actually isn’t. It means that you, as a player, have no idea whether the dealer has a blackjack before your hand is over. This complicates things, but it makes the game even more thrilling.
RTG made sure that you can play the game for free in fun mode. So if you happen to be bored and decide to play online, make sure you test this version. You’d be playing Blackjack in its original form.
